Account and Data Deletion Policy

Overview
This policy outlines how users can request deletion of their Home² account and associated data. We respect your right to control your personal information and provide tools to delete your account and all related data.
Deletion Process
Users can permanently delete their account and all associated data through the Home² mobile application:
- Navigate to the Settings screen in the app
- Find the "Delete Account" option
- Confirm your intention by checking a confirmation checkbox
- Type "delete" in the confirmation field to validate the action
- Click the "Delete" button to initiate the process
The deletion process is immediate and irreversible.
Data That Will Be Deleted
Deleting your account will permanently remove all of the following data:
- Account Profile: Your user profile and authentication information
- Premises: All properties you own, including associated data
- Rooms: All rooms within your premises
- Bills: All bills and invoices associated with your premises and rooms
- Activity Logs: All activity logs related to your account
- Account Settings: All personal settings and preferences
- Payment Information: Subscription status and related payment data
Deletion Process for Individual Items
Within the app, you can also delete individual items:
Premise Deletion
Deleting a premise will also delete:
- All rooms within that premise
- All bills associated with those rooms
- Any UPI payment records for that premise
Room Deletion
Deleting a room will also delete:
- All bills associated with that room
Bill Deletion
Deleting a bill will remove only that specific bill record.
Data Retention
When you delete your account or specific data items:
- Account and data deletion is immediate and permanent
- Deleted data cannot be recovered
- We do not maintain backup copies of deleted data beyond what is necessary for system integrity
- Any data that has been exported by the user remains under the user's control
Irreversible Nature of Deletion
Please note that account and data deletion is:
- Immediate upon confirmation
- Permanent and cannot be undone
- Irreversible - once deleted, data cannot be recovered
- Complete - all associated data is removed from our systems
We strongly recommend that you export any data you wish to keep before deleting your account.
Technical Implementation
The deletion process follows a cascading approach to ensure complete data removal:
- Retrieve all premises owned by the user
- For each premise, retrieve all associated rooms
- For each room, retrieve and delete all associated bills
- Delete each room
- Delete each premise
- Delete any additional bills where the user is the owner
- Delete all activity logs in the user's subcollection
- Delete the user document from the users collection
- Delete the Firebase authentication account
- Clear local data from the device
Security Measures
To protect against accidental deletions, we implement:
- Dual confirmation (checkbox and text input) for account deletion
- Explicit warnings about data loss
- Owner-only access for deletion of premises and rooms
- Confirmation dialogs for all deletion operations
- Disabled delete buttons until proper validation is completed
